Greetings in the Lord!
As we approach the Feast of Feasts, the Church, in her wisdom calls us to prepare with the Great Fast. But, are we ever truly prepared?
A doctor once told me: “We’re just practicing medicine – so you need to be patient.” What then? Are we just practicing Christianity? We are practicing, we are preparing – and we are living Christianity.
A great musician never stops refining his craft, always ready for the performance. An athlete trains daily, always prepared for the big game. So, too, Christian life is one of continual preparation, lived in the light of Christ’s eternal victory over death.
· Saint Paul the Apostle tells us: “Behold, today is the appropriate day; Behold, today is the day of salvation.”
· Saint Seraphim of Sarov greeted everyone, every day, with: “My joy, Christ is Risen!”
We call the week of Pascha Bright Week, or Renewal Week —in truth, every week is a renewal, every day is Pascha. Every moment is the day of salvation. May your Lent be one of spiritual renewal.
