VISITOR GUIDE

Be our Guest: we welcome all who come in the name of Our Lord Jesus Christ. Because life here is unique, we offer this practical advice for your visit. We hope you will find spiritual rest here from the cares of the world.

Travel

All visitors are encouraged to contact the monastery in advance before visiting.

By car: Our monastery is within a half-day's drive of major cities like Chicago and Minneapolis.

By air: Some visitors arrive through Dane County Regional Airport in Madison, Wisconsin.+

By bus: The nearest Greyhound bus stops are in La Crosse or Wisconsin Dells.+

By train: The nearest Amtrak train stations are in La Crosse or Wisconsin Dells.+

+ Note: If you are planning an extended stay, let us know ahead of time, we may be able to arrange a pickup.

Arrivals & Departures

🚸 Please drive slowly through the valley. Many of our neighbors have children, dogs, and cats.

+ Note: Some GPS navigation systems may display our location as Marietta, Wisconsin.

On the Grounds

The Monastery is a place of sanctity and repentance. We kindly ask visitors to help preserve our peaceful atmosphere. To ensure everyone fully benefits from their time here, we also request that guests limit cell phone use. Enjoy taking photos of the forest and wildlife, but please request a blessing before photographing the church, buildings, or brothers.

+ Note: Due to our rural location, cell service can be limited, though better coverage can be found near the valley entrance. For web access, we use Starlink satellite internet for our online store.

Church Services

In keeping with the traditional practices of the Orthodox Church, we humbly ask guests to dress modestly, if possible:

• Men and boys are kindly encouraged to wear pants and long sleeves.

• Women and girls are kindly encouraged to wear a long skirt or dress, and long sleeves.

Overnight Guests

Lodging is available in our guesthouse cenobium and we warmly welcome church groups on pilgrimage. Pilgrims join the brothers for services in the chapel, as well as for common meals.

First-time guests are kindly asked to call ahead and make arrangements, so we can ensure a warm welcome and have a bed prepared for you.

What to bring when staying overnight:

• Pack for the weather

• Work gloves and shoes for outdoor tasks

• We also suggest a headlamp or flashlight

+ Note: Currently, we are only able to accommodate men for overnight stays. We appreciate the understanding and patience of our women visitors as we work to make this available for everyone in the future.
